This April I will be taking part in 'Snámh Phádraig'/ 'Swim for Pádraig'. This will involve myself and friends attempting to swim in every coastal county in Ireland over just 2 days! - Starting in Ballbriggan on Day one , spending the night in Galway and finishing in Bray on day 2.
We are doing this to help our good friend Pádraig Schaler who remains in a coma after an accident on his J1 last summer. He is now receiving specialised treatment in Germany as Ireland was lacking the resources to care for someone in his condition.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Caring for Pádraig fund to help Padraig and his family in his recovery.
All participants are aiming to raise a minimum of €250. So if you have a few euro to spare, any donations would be much appreciated :)
Padraig Schaler, a 2013 TCD graduate from Glasnevin, Dublin, acquired a very severe brain injury when he was hit by a van on 27 June 2013 as he cycled to work on Cape Cod. Nobody was ever prosecuted.
He is now living with his family in Dublin. He requires 24-hour care and is fully dependent.
All proceeds go to the Caring for Padraig fund, administered by a Committee independent of the family.
