Hello!!
I and a group of other looney toons will be swimming about in every coastal county of Ireland next weekend the 12th and 13th of April. The task ahead is a 5 minute swim in each of the 17 coastal counties over 2 days (rain or snow). Each person must raise €250 to take part.
This is all to raise money for the medical costs for our friend, Padraig schaler, who was knocked off his bicycle last June in Cape Cod and remains in coma. Padraig is currently receiving treatment and rehabilition in Hamburg, Germany. The reason he is in Hamburg is because our own health system lacks the adequate resources and facilities to treat patients with severe brain injuries. There is huge cost involved in ensuring Padraig continues to get the best treatment.
Padraig is a serious swimmer and won many backstroke/frontcrawl/butterfly/free-shtyle races in his day so he would absolutely love this!
Any donation you can spare big or small would be fantaaaaastic.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance if you donate a buck or two.
Padraig Schaler, a 2013 TCD graduate from Glasnevin, Dublin, acquired a very severe brain injury when he was hit by a van on 27 June 2013 as he cycled to work on Cape Cod. Nobody was ever prosecuted.
He is now living with his family in Dublin. He requires 24-hour care and is fully dependent.
All proceeds go to the Caring for Padraig fund, administered by a Committee independent of the family.
