There is nothing more debilitating in life that not liking your self - especially in a world that has become increasingly superficial and conscious of what we look like, rather than who we are. This is not new - and has affected many - both men and women - over often what can span a lifetime.
This walk is not only my own personal journey, but is to raise funds for all those affected by this silent demon that very often starts in our teens, but spills over seamlessly into adult life in many guises and addictions, but mostly in some form of unhealthy relationship with food and a serious lack of self esteem.
Whether to starve, purge or binge - there is only the love of self that can truly overcome these obsticles - and sometimes we need help.
All funds I will be raising for BodyWhys Ireland will go directly to assist with councelling, support and awareness of this most noble of charities, and I ask that you please support generously.
In my experience, self esteem and body image is something people don't talk about, and is swept under the carpet with an "Ah, you're fine, what are you on about". or "Ah, you're big boned" .
In the words of Zorba - "Madness, man needs a little bit of madness... otherwise he will never dare cut the ropes and be free"
Please share my madness with a MADly generous donations please.
