The family and friends of Kevin Coleman are organising a 4 Peaks Challenge “Climbs 4 Kevin” in Kevin’s memory.We will be climbing a peak in each Irish Province over two days, the 12th & 13th July, with funds going to St Vincent’s Hospital Foundation for Sarcoma Research and Awareness.

The four peaks selected are Carrauntohill, Djouce in Co Wicklow, Slieve Donard and Croagh Patrick. Kevin also completed each of the four peaks we have selected, some many times and we have fond memories of those days spent together. The challenge will start @ 6a.m. on the 12th with Carrauntohill followed by Djouce. On the 13th we will commence on Slieve Donard again @ 6am and finish on Croagh Patrick.

We are asking those who cannot climb all four peaks to get training and challenge yourself to take on one or more and bring your families and friends along also. All donations will be gratefully accepted. Ask your friends, family or companies for support and in so doing promote awareness of Sarcoma and raise much needed funds for Sarcoma Research.

About Kevin

Kevin was born in Riverstown, Co. Sligo and completed his schooling in Riverstown and Ballymote. He studied in UCD, completing a degree in Commerce and a masters in Accounting. He then went on to do his chartered accounting exams while working in EY, before joining Keelings in 2020.

Sadly, in July 2022, aged 29, Kevin was diagnosed with Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. He underwent radiotherapy, surgery and chemotherapy in subsequent months. Unfortunately, the cancer spread and Kevin passed away 12 months after his diagnosis, on 14th July 2023, just over a week after his 30th birthday and 24 hours after his wedding to Megan, his long-term partner.

Kevin was treated throughout his illness by the St Vincent’s Hospital Group. He received exceptional care during his time there, and we are forever grateful to those who supported him and us.

Despite the life-altering challenge a cancer diagnosis brings, Kevin was keen that it would not alter life much at all during that year. He inspired us with his attitude, resilience and strength. Kevin was an accountant and continued to work throughout his treatment along with continuing to do all the things he loved to do - walking, hiking, travelling, spending time with family, trying new restaurants and socialising with friends, all while delivering the most witty, sarcastic and amazing one-liners. They deserve their own mention.

Sport was a huge part of Kevin’s life. He played underage soccer and gaelic for his local clubs Arrow Harps and Shamrock Gaels winning plenty of medals along the way. He participated in Community Games in any sport offered, Olympic handball, rounders, athletics, basketball to name a few. In later years soccer and running became the sports of choice. He was a regular visitor to the Showgrounds to support Sligo Rovers and continued to attend some of their Dublin matches during his treatment.

Kevin's life was short in years, but rich with beautiful experiences. He had an impact on everyone who met him, and we have all come to realise that the greater the love, the bigger the loss.

Sarcoma is rare, and as such, it is a cancer that a lot of people are unaware of. We are hoping this fundraiser can increase awareness and contribute much needed funds to research efforts.

We have chosen this activity as we know how much Kevin would have loved it. He spent weekends hiking, and planned many holidays around mountain climbing and other outdoor adventures. He took on one of the biggest peaks in 2011, completing Kilimanjaro for charity aged 18. He was never one to sit in his comfort zone, so we know he would want us to challenge ourselves too.
