Redmond and Geraldine Murphy live in Curry, Co Sligo, parents to three boys – Red Óg, Daithí and Oisín. In April 2022, Red Óg died by suicide. He was a footballer, a son, a student teacher and plenty more besides. Since his death, it has been important to the Murphy family that mental health becomes a more widespread topic of conversation, particularly among young people. As part of their efforts to keep the issue in the forefront of people’s minds they are organising this event. The panel has been especially chosen – since Red Og’s life was immersed in sport, the mental health journeys of high-level sportspeople are the particular focus here. Ocean FM present Austin O’Callaghan will be the compere on the night and the speakers on the night will include Alan Quinlan, Philly McMahon, Caroline Currid and Rory O'Connor.
Good luck Redmond and Geraldine x Deirdre Horkan
