We as a family would like to express our sincere thanks for considering donating to this event. Dara gives back, Pedal for the Poons. In January 2020, our youngest son Dara, brother of Noah and Jack was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia TCell, weeks before his third birthday. So began a three and a half year journey of intensive treatment, approximately 120 hospital overnight admissions. Our world was turned upside down in a moment. Fortunately, the enduring support and kindness of so many; family, friends, colleagues, Ballincollig GAA was invaluable, words can never express our gratitude. So now it is our hope to give back by creating this challenge and setting up this fundraiser. Since 2020 Dara has received treatment for leukaemia in the Mercy hospital. This combined with the Poons service (Paediatric Oncology Outreach Nursing Service) has ensured the ongoing successful treatment of Dara. The staff in the Mercy Hospital are the kindest most amazing people we have been fortunate to meet on a very challenging journey. Also they provide the unique service of the paediatric nurses who came to our home to provide treatment and education reducing the number of trips to hospital. The entire staff provide such holistic care to us as a family, especially during the pandemic, for which we will never forget. This medical service and ongoing support of so many has succeeded in family and school life to continue for us all. Dara is a very happy 6 year old who loves playing sport with his brothers, has made lots of friends in school and has taken up GAA. His fun-loving nature, resilience and determination is remarkable. Our hope is that in raising money this unique service and world class care can continue to be provided for families like ourselves to ease the journey a little. We hope that you can help us by donating whatever you can. You can also share our page using the share options. This is also a great way to support the event. Thank you, Noel, Coeurena, Noah, Jack and Dara.
