At 67 years of age doing a skydive had always been one of the few remaining things to tick off my bucket list. For Christmas 2019 my husband and daughter decided to help me do just that and bought me a voucher for a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet. I booked the date for May last year and contacted the RNLI for permission to fundraise for them. My main reason for choosing the RNLI is the fact that they risk their lives everyday to save others regardless of the dangerous weather and they rely solely on voluntary donations.
Unfortunately, in February last year I dislocated my previously replaced hip and had to postpone my plans to do the skydive. Then the Covid-19 pandemic shut everything down and in July last year I had to undergo hip revision surgery to prevent it from dislocating again.
Fast forward to this year and the lifting of restrictions. I made contact with the parachute club and rescheduled my tandem skydive for the 31st July. I was all excited and began to fundraise. However, I then found out that my consultant would not sign off on me doing the skydive as it will only have been a year since my hip surgery. I am very lucky that my husband Ronnie has kindly offered to take my place and do the skydive on my behalf. Thank you for donating to this worthy cause.
