As some of our residents are unable to change their position within their beds without manual assistance, this is a key intervention in preventing pressure sores and gently moves the resident from side to side and thus reduces the need for physical intervention. We became aware of this equipment earlier this year and trialled it with an elderly resident at their end of life. This particular resident did not like being touched or manually moved to change his position in bed, and the system dramatically improved his comfort and pallaitive care.

The system designed assists with patient turning and pressure injury prevention plans and is based on inflating alternating air cells within the platform which turn patients laterally via the mattress surface to a maximum of either 30 or 45 degrees.
