My name is Stephen Lynch and I’m from Duleek in Co.Meath however now reside in Sydney Australia this last 3 + years.
I have booked to fly home this August and have planned the following. On Monday 14th August I am starting my run from Malin Head in Donegal to Mizen Head in Cork which is point to point of the length of the country (approx 550km).
The goal is to do it within 5 days and 13hrs which will leave me the 4th quickest person to do such route while also being the youngest person ever to do so at 28 years of age. I want to raise as much as possible to spilt between both SOSAD and Mental Health Ireland.
I’ll be running 100km a day which the total distance will be the equivalent of about 13 marathons.
Mental health is a massive issue and I feel like running or even exercise in general has always gave me great tools to deal with any difficult situations or problems I’ve had in the past. I feel like for a very long time now I’ve always protected my mental health by doing exercise and looking after myself as best as possible.
Prior to August 2021 I never ran more than 10km.
In December 2021 I ran my first Marathon in Melbourne Australia and actually raised a total of €1474 for Mental Health Ireland.
In November 2022 I did a 80km run in Sydney for SOSAD raising €2108.
So this August 2023 is the big one and I’d appreciate any help you could give me.
