Hi everyone Orls here. Some of you know me from my Twitch stream, and some of you just know me for me!
I'm sure you've heard of my legend of a da - Les. Les is currently undergoing treatment since January of 2023.
Facing an illness is brave. My dad is 73 and attends every hospital appointment, scan, meeting, blood test, and treatment. This has been ongoing since last November. My mam has been by his side through it all. She works weekdays and is still making sure he is punctual and present for everything. My sisters are still in Ireland and are an amazing support system, along with many of our aunts, uncles, and cousins.
I moved from Ireland to Scotland last September and as you can imagine the distance feels huge currently. I work full-time and on-site so I can't travel back as much as I wish. I want to do something to show the support and love around my Da - even from way up here.
A year ago I picked up the hobby of Twitch streaming as I was doing an unpaid internship working remotely. It was something to do on a weekday during the dark and long evenings. A year later I've built up a community of over 650 followers - and we plan to rally on Twitch for 24hrs and complete challenges live on stream as each donation goal is hit. For 24hrs I plan to entertain and embarrass myself for the sake of spreading awareness on oesophageal cancer as well as showing how much we love our Les.
Thank you for taking the time to read my Da's story. Any support - monetary or sharing on socials - is appreciated greatly and I know we can't thank ye enough.
Keep her fuckin' lit.
Up Les. Up the O’Donnells
Sending all my love and support <3
