Run for Dreams!

All funds raised go to Down Syndrome Waterford and South Kilkenny Branch.

We are excited to announce the Run for Dreams event, taking place on World Down Syndrome Day, March 21st. In honour of Nichola Aylward, a beloved advocate for the Down Syndrome community and former CEO of Down Syndrome Ireland, we invite our community to come together to raise awareness and funds for the Waterford and South Kilkenny Down Syndrome Branch. Nichola’s legacy lives on in the work we do, and her unwavering support for individuals with Down Syndrome continues to inspire us all.

Leading the charge is Katie Jacob, a dedicated teacher at our school and a passionate advocate for the Down Syndrome community. Katie will take on the incredible challenge of running 63 km over the course of 21 hours, completing 3 kilometres on the hour, every hour. This gruelling feat not only tests her endurance but also symbolises the perseverance and strength of individuals with Down Syndrome in pursuing their dreams.

Katie will be joined by other members of the community who will also run laps to support her and the cause. Their participation underscores the incredible community spirit that Nichola so strongly believed in, and which continues to thrive today. We are running together to make a real difference.

This event is not just about running; it’s a celebration of Nichola’s legacy and a commitment to ensuring that everyone has the right to dream big. Your generous support will help provide essential resources, programmes, and support for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.
