This year Ballymakenny College have partnered with Nurture Africa to develop a Global Citizenship Education programme for our Transition Year students. From September 2023, students will participate in weekly Global Citizenship lessons for the duration of the academic year. The end of this programme will see our students travelling to Uganda in May 2024 for two weeks to see the worthwhile work Nurture Africa do in Nansana. The programme involves, sustainable development workshops, immersing themselves in school life in Uganda, meeting beneficiaries of Nurture Africa and a visit to the Irish embassy in Kampala to meet with the Irish Ambassador to discuss root causes of poverty. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students but we need your help.
To help us on our way, brave staff members from our school will be skydiving in September 2023.. will any of them chicken out? Who will wear the chicken suit if they do?
Money raised from the skydive will go towards getting our students to Uganda and towards the operations run by Nurture Africa.
