Over the past 12 months, SVP has found that a significant proportion of Irish society are under
considerable financial pressures due to the pandemic. But, unfortunately, it is those who were
most vulnerable to poverty before the pandemic that are most affected now – low income families
with children, lone parents, renters, and people with disabilities.
Last year, calls for help to SVP increased by nearly 20% to 180,000 .
One in three of these calls were from people needing support with food. With many more
thousands of calls from people struggling to keep a roof over their children’s heads, keep
their homes warm or afford the technology so that is now essential for children to receive an
education.
But, you can make a real difference in the lives of struggling people around the country!
