Meet us, Elaine (Irish) and Lolly (English), mothers, wives, workers, padel lovers, wine lovers and runners! As if all of that wasn’t enough, we are also driven by helping others so in between padel matches, we’ve been talking about getting involved in a fundraising event, and here we are, finally doing something for a very good cause!

Even though there are many amazing charities out there that we would love to help, the cause we want to support this time around is Cancer. Both of us have immediate family who are living with cancer right now so this is a cause that is very close to our hearts.

We will share the money raised with two charities, one based in Ireland and one in the UK. The charity we have chosen in Ireland is Cork ARC, Cancer Support House, who provide much needed services and support to people with cancer and to their families, free of charge. The charity in the UK is Saint Michael's Hospice, Basingstoke who are dedicated to caring for families living with terminal illnesses, particularly those with cancer. People with cancer not only need all the support they can get, they deserve it!

Sooo, what are we going to do to raise money? Well, we are going to run the legs off ourselves! Last year we ran a half marathon and raised €1600 for the Stroke Association which was amazing! This year, we decided that we would up the challenge but instead of doing a marathon for charity, which would be the obvious next step, we decided to do an ULTRA MARATHON!!! It's worth mentioning that we put our training into practice and with just 3 days notice, we ran the Barcelona Marathon last Sunday! What an amazing experience, tough but very gratifying. We are proud and feeling more prepared for what's to come........

So what is to come??? For this fundraiser, we are going to complete an Ultra Challenge which involves running 106km around the Isle of Wight. It’s a two-day challenge where we will be running (mostly!) around the whole island’s perimeter and we would like to achieve this in the best time possible! It’s worth mentioning that we will be sleeping in a tent, on the cold floor in between runs so this is not going to be an easy feat! We have already started our painfully strict training programme, marathons included ;-)!! Time is now ticking by quickly and so are our heart rates from the cardio, excitement and also some nerves!

We hope you can tell that we are 100% dedicated to this challenge and would be extremely grateful for even the smallest donation. Your support means a lot to us and even more to those living with cancer right now.
