Deloitte’s stated purpose is to make an impact that matters with our clients, our people and in the community.

Since 2013, Deloitte have partnered with Nurture Africa (NA), an Irish founded organisation based in Uganda whose goal is to support vulnerable children and families mentally and physically, who are affected by HIV/AIDS.

By working with local organisations, their goal is to alleviate poverty through the provision of healthcare, education and micro-financing. We share Nurture Africa’s (NA) approach to working with the local community in Uganda: give man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Through this project we support NA and their partner organisations in Uganda by applying our core skills and experience to empower people through education, skills development, and access to opportunity; therefore making NA and those that they are supporting to be self-sufficient and also activating our WorldClass target or impacting on 100 million lives by 2030. This project delivers support to NA through staff engagement, skills-sharing, fundraising and volunteering.

Annual engagements include:

20+ volunteers (approx) giving their time and skills for two weeks in Uganda on a capacity building placement supporting and enabling NA, its staff and its local partners to strengthen their systems and projects e.g.: identifying organisational gaps and providing training ranging from bookkeeping, financial advice for audits, consultancy, market research and business plans for new social enterprises.
IMPACT Week, Deloitte’s flagship volunteering week - NA have participated in one of the professional skills projects where Deloitte volunteers have supported NA staff in Ireland with their systems, reports and strategies.
Fundraising – volunteers fundraising activity and Deloitte donations. Now in our 10th year of partnership, we continue to develop the work we do together to empower thousands of families whom NA support to lift from poverty through educational and financial empowerment.
