Bandonbridge National School welcomed c205 pupils on Thursday 28th August 2014 through its new doors into a bright foyer leading to two new spacious classrooms. The building project commenced October 2013 has been completed, the pupils and staff will benefit from the two extra classrooms extending the classroom provision from six to eight classrooms, and this will provide accommodation for the growing number of pupils. Included in the build are a new resource room and two administration offices, refurbishment of existing resource rooms and a revamped kitchen. The flat roof and the roof of the GP building have been replaced.
The Principal Harriet Pritchard, who does an excellent job of managing the school, overseeing the education of the pupils and providing an environment with a sense of caring and belonging, has a new office. Both Harriet and the secretary Michelle now have spacious new offices giving them confidential areas to carry out their work, to meet with pupils and parents and space for storage of files.
Although the building is complete there is still some fundraising to be done bridge the gap between the grants the department gave towards the build and the overall cost.
