DB Ireland World Games Volunteers

Special Olympics Ireland is a year-round sports training and competition programme for people with an intellectual disability, and every four years Irish athletes join athletes from around the world to participate in The Special Olympics World Games  - the world's largest inclusive sports event. Thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities compete together in 26 sports. Nine days of exciting and inspiring competitions, by athletes and for athletes – and this year, 17 to 25 June 2023, the Special Olympics World Games will take place in Berlin.

To support the World Games, each country not only brings their athletes but a team of volunteers to help overall running of the games. And we are delighted that DB Ireland are supporting 4 colleagues to join the Irish volunteer contingent, travelling to Berlin to volunteer at the Special Olympics World Games.

To support the fundraising for this event the 4 colleagues are (willingly!!) taking part in an event on May 12th. The event in question is a 150ft Abseil from Croke Park’s iconic Hogan Stand. The funds raised from this event support Team Ireland in their journey to compete in the Games in Berlin.
