Roscommon underwater Search and Recovery, membership made up entirely of volunteers, provides an invaluable search and recovery service supporting the Civil Defence and Irish Coast Guard. The club Is made up of volunteer Scuba divers who are specially trained to search for and recover persons lost either in a freshwater or maritime incident. The club is affiliated to Diving Ireland and the international underwater federation, CMAS. The training received in Roscommon provides the diver with skills and abilities to dive in both fresh and saltwater environments throughout Ireland. The governance of which is operated under a service level agreement between Diving Ireland and the Irish Coastguard. The club relies on local community grants and club fundraising initiatives carried out throughout the year. All donations made to the club are very much appreciated and allow the club to provide a well-equipped underwater search and recovery service to the community.
