Support the IWA Sport Team competing at the International Wheelchair and Amputee Games in Portugal, this November.
It is the mission of the Irish Wheelchair Association Sport to develop and promote sport, physical and recreational opportunities for people with a physical disability to reach their full potential.
Para Athletics is one of the most popular sports both here in Ireland and within the Paralympic movement. Each year we deliver a Para Athletics programme for athletes including young children, Paralympic Athletes, right up to Masters level. It really is a sport for all that provides ongoing training, home and international competitions for our Athletes, who are People living with a physical disability.
To be eligible to compete in Para Athletics the disability types include spina bifida, cerebral palsy, short stature, amputee, quadriplegia, vision impairment and hemiplegia. Our athletes include wheelchair users and people who are ambulant.
As with all of our Sports our annual programme of activities are supported by a vibrant network of Volunteers that give many hours selflessly towards coaching, officiating and coordinating our many events.
In November, our Irish team will compete at the International Wheelchair and Amputee Games in Portugal and we are seeking your support with fundraising for the associated costs for these Games.
For our teams, travelling to international competitions is an expensive undertaking with additional care needs, additional sports equipment and accessible transport all unique factors within disability sport.
Your donation will go towards supporting the entry fees, travel costs, accommodation costs, and team kit for the Team.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for any donation you can spare. The opportunity for our Athletes to represent their country is and always been a great honour. We would be very appreciative of any support you can provide the team to help them achieve their sporting ambitions and dreams.
