Inspired
is a not-for-profit organisation based in Tralee,
Co. Kerry. We support people with intellectual disabilities to access training
and development and supported employment programmes, while promoting community
inclusion and integration. Adults with intellectual disabilities attend
Inspired to pursue a range of programmes which have been developed to meet
their needs using a universal design learning (UDL) approach. This much needed
training and support enables people with intellectual disabilities to gain
meaningful employment, access social events and become valuable members of
their own communities. Key to Inspired is its unique
ethos. Our activities are fully participant-led and driven by the aim
of affording participants a sense of agency, empowerment and
self-determination.
The Ring
of Kerry Charity Cycle 2023 funding will enable Inspired to put a dedicated
fund in place to support adults with intellectual disabilities with
affordable transportation options that bring employment, health care,
education, and community life within reach. Many
individuals with intellectual disabilities reside in isolated and rural areas in Kerry where they experience daily
transport barriers when trying to access training and employment services, or
social events. Transport infrastructure in Kerry remains
fractured and inaccessible for the majority of people with intellectual
disabilities who are seeking a better quality of life. Currently, there is no
state funding available to provide suitable transport for people with
intellectual disabilities who live in remote and isolated regions throughout
the county. Our transport service is hugely subsidised and largely dependent on
fund raising events such as Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle, philanthropy, and
annual donations.
Thank you for supporting Inspired in the Ring of Kerry
Charity Cycle 2023. If you have any queries or need any support in your
fundraising, please email [email protected]. We are very grateful for your
support.
