The Irish Kidney Association has been selected as a Tier 2 Charity in this year's Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle Event on Saturday 6th July. This iconic cycling event, now in its 42nd year, takes place along one of the world’s most renowned touring routes, The Ring of Kerry, a 170km circular route starting and ending in the beautiful town of Killarney.

The Irish Kidney Association is a charitable voluntary organisation founded in 1978. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of renal patients and their families and carers, living with and affected by end stage renal disease. These needs are spread across all aspects of life – medical, social and psychological. The profile of the kidney patient ranges from infanthood to the elderly who are undergoing various methods of treatment – such as dialysis and kidney transplantation. Kidney disease affects all age groups, both men and women. The reality of kidney disease is that it can affect many strands of a person’s life including: health, employment, education, social life and relationships, physical fitness and general well-being.
Our story began in 1982 when a group from Killarney had an idea- to cycle the 170-kilometre ‘Ring of Kerry’ to raise money for charity.41 years later, that vision hasn’t changed. Our story has. Today, the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle brings together 8,000 participants each year, making it Ireland’s largest one-day charity event.
