As a visiting student here at NUIG for the semester, I've not only been given the wonderful opportunity to explore Ireland and enjoy all that it has to offer but I have now been given a chance to help give back as well. I believe giving back is an important part of life, no matter where you are. Since Ireland has given so much to me already in my first month here I would love to do something to give back to the place that I'll be calling my home for the next four months. Threshold and RNLI, the two charities this climb benefits, are both worthy causes. Threshold is working to prevent homelessness and solve housing problems while RNLI is helping to save lives with their 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service, seasonal lifeguards, water safety education and initiatives, and flood rescue response.
