We recently lost a very special friend after a battle against oesophageal cancer. Brendan was taken much too early, leaving behind a young family and a void that's impossible to fill.
Brendan was an obsessive compulsive cyclist (OCC!) and always on the look out for the next "epic" challenge. Mallorca 312 fit the bill and he signed the three of us (unknown to us!) up for the 2015 adventure. Tragically the big C had other ideas and it never happened.
Towards the end of Brendan's battle he spent a number of weeks in the care of the Galway Hospice. We were blown away by the level of care and support provided by the Hospice to Brendan, his family and friends. As an acknowledgement of this great care, Brendan expressed his desire to help raise much needed funds to enable the hospice to continue to provide such an amazing and much needed service for others who find themselves in his situation. That was the measure of the man, he was always looking to help others even in this most difficult period.
As a way of fulfilling Brendan's wish to raise funds for the Galway Hospice, we have signed up for this year’s 312 challenge. We are completing a 312 kilometre route with over 5,000 meters of climbing within fourteen hours. We are hoping to honour Brendan's wish and raise as much funds as possible for a very worthy cause. We would be grateful for any donation to help ensure the Galway Hospice can continue to provide the high levels of care and support to other families who need it.
100% of funds raised will go to the Hospice. Further details on the Galway Hospice and their services are below.
Dave & David
Hospice care is available to people of any age in the advanced stages of a life-limiting illness.
Hospice care cannot claim to extend life, but it can certainly improve the quality of life for each patient, so that each day can be lived to the full. A notable feature of Hospice care is that all services are provided free of charge, regardless of each person’s means. Hospice also provide a range of supports to the families of patients.

Galway Hospice Foundation is a voluntary organisation. It was established in 1986 when a group of local doctors and nurses came together with a view to developing hospice services for the people of Galway city and county, as no such services existed there at the time.
