The Aurelia Trust works in Romania with abandoned children and young adults who have been institutionalised since birth many of whom grew up in the brutal orphanage system during the Ceaușescu regime. These people suffered appalling levels of deprivation and abuse which has resulted in severe mental and physical disabilities. The main focus of our charity is to improve the lives of these people living in state institutions by offering alternative forms of care such as fostering, adoption, the creation of group homes and by upgrading the institutions in which they live. In particular, each year the Aurelia Trust fund a summer camp programme for the residents of the Pilot Centre. For the majority of the residents it is the only time in the year that they leave the centre. We are travelling to Romania on the 30th of June to assist local care workers in the provision of the summer camp. Each year we fundraise for the running costs of the summer camp, however, all volunteers of The Aurelia Trust give their time freely and pay for all their own transport costs. This means that 100% of your donations go directly to those in need. Thank you for your kind donation!
