About Headway:
Headway has been helping those affected by brain injury and their carers since 1985. This charity provides a range of services, such as helping people who have been ill or injured to rebuild their skills to achieve the best quality of life that they can or providing support to families who have been affected by brain injury. All the money raised in Cork will be put back into helping people in Cork; either those dealing with brain injury by offering services such as rehabilitative training and psychological support, as well as assisting carers, who may need services such as counselling.

About me:
For those who don't know, my name is Michael Gannon and I'm 19 years old. I'm studying Business Information Systems in UCC. I also play violin and dabble in a bit of running. This year's marathon will be my first, so I'm fairly excited!
I'm really delighted to have the chance to run the marathon for such a genuinely amazing charity that helps to get people affected by brain injury back on their feet. Most of us take brain function for granted, it's a given that we're able to speak, write, walk and live independently. However, through an accident, a stoke or even an infection in the brain, someone's life can be completely changed.
Therefore, I am so happy to be able to help this charity to help others, and I'm so thankful so anyone that gives anything at all to support Headway.
Seriously, I can't put into words what it means to give anything, it definitely all helps!
Michael :)
