To be told that one of your children has a fatal disease, that currently has no treatment or cure is devastating, to be told all three of your children have it is beyond comprehension. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy or DMD is a progressive neuromuscular disease that destroys muscle tissue and it is currently fatal. Archie, George and Isaac have all been diagnosed with DMD. The Join Our Boys Trust was set up to To raise awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Nationally & Internationally and to ensure Archie,George and Isaac have the additional resources they require to function; to remain mobile for as long as is possible and to live a life filled with purpose and meaning, despite their physical limitations . The ultimate aim is to ensure a treatment or cure is found for this catastrophic disease in time to save the lives of Archie, George, Isaac and all the children in this generation diagnosed with DMD: Archie, the eldest of the three boys is 11 and will be doing the Dublin City Marathon to raise awareness and funds to help him and his brothers find a cure for Duchenne. His trainer Sinead Gannon and 3 others will push him along the 26.2 miles and I am privileged to be part of the team.
