I have been confronted with childhood cancer for the first time when ready the very sad story of Jessica Whelan https://www.facebook.com/Afightagainstneuroblastoma/, who suffered from Neuroblastoma - a very aggressive form of childhood cancer. A innocent little girl just 5 years old, who sadly passed away in October last year. I have never met this girl in person, just followed updates her Dad posted on Facebook. This had such an impact on me and affected me badly for a few weeks. I was so upset that I couldn’t stop crying. Myself, a dad of 2 young kids who are around the same age as Jessica and her brother, couldn’t believe what her family had to go through. No last bedtime story, no last hug, last kiss.... From this moment onwards I knew I wanted do more for kids who are suffering from cancer. I volunteered for Childhoodcancer.ie at the Piece Proms last year and this year I would like to fundraise money, also in memory of Jessica. There are so many sad stories behind every sick child and their family and this is not about bringing kids to Disney world e.g. There are simple things which have such a huge impact like that one of the parents stays at home supporting their beloved child and giving up their job. But the costs are rising higher and higher than ever. I would love to raise as much funds as possible in September, which is also the month of childhood cancer awareness. After completing 19 Ironman competitions, this year will be my first one to race for charity. I will take part in the Ironman Italy on the 23.09.2017 with nearly no training. But thinking of these sick children and their families will give me the strength to finish. I am doing this for all the kids who are affected by such an awful disease. Please help me with your donation.
