Maybe it’s a midlife crisis..... or being inspired, humbled, motivated, or just bowled over by the most incredible family living near me in Naas. They have been touched, not once, but twice, by Leukemia.
I have learnt a lot about comfort zones and how easily we fall into, and stay in, them.
Completely outside my comfort zone is getting into a boxing ring with people half my age and at multiples of my fitness, but yet that is what I am intending to do......
On Saturday 28th October at 19:30, I will be stepping into the boxing ring in Unit3 Health and Fitness gym in Naas.
The plan is to do three rounds of full contact to raise as much money as possible for St Johns Ward in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. There are the most supportive, comforting and incredible staff in this ward and they make a difficult time a bearable one. As with much of our health service, this service is chronically short of funds and the staff personally purchase much of the fun and leisure activitues for the children.

We are going to have some serious fun on the night. Serious will be a short presentation about the ward, fun will be watching me in the ring! There will be some food as well on the night. If fund raising goes well, more fun will be had! A bit more ridicule for me and laughter for you! Photos will be posted to Instagram and Facebook for those who can’t make it on the night.
Please dig deep and help me out with this. You never know what is around the next corner and any one of us may need the support of the hospital with our families.
