Worlds Biggest Skinny Dip to raise funds for Aoibheanns Pink Tie and Cancer Care West:
What a year 2017 was for me and my family. Every time I walked into the hospital with my body getting more tired with the chemo I thought this sign on the wall "Health is a crown worn by those who are well and seen only by the sick" was so true and that good health is so taken for granted.
The past year has reminded me that life is for living - SO with that in mind, I've just signed up to do the Worlds Biggest Skinny Dip on 9th June to raise funds for two amazing charities:
-Aoibheanns Pink Tie ( who provide support for children and their families diagnosed with cancer )
and
-Cancer Care West who provided me with such support that I will be forever grateful for as they got me thru some darkest moments after been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer
My personal journey:
No one knows their future and God we surely were not expecting to get diagnosed with breast cancer after just handing in my notice to work after 16 years and starting building our new house back home. If we thought we were doing the three most stressful things at the time moving home, building our new home and starting a new job they all faded into minor things once I got the diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer.... Floored and devastated we were as diagnose for triple negative isn't good to say the least. I was just 39 and with all the doom that comes with triple negative my life with my husband Sean and 2 small ones( Jason had just turned three and Roisin was 1 year 8 months) looked bleak or so I thought. Thankfully we got thru 2017 and my treatment has killed the tumour which is the most amazing news it's like winning the lotto and I will be closely monitored going forward.
But for anybody that has gone thru any tragedy/ serious critical illness in their lives it's about rebuilding their next chapter. The path I thought I previously was on has changed and won't be what I imagined but that's ok as life just throws a lot at us all and their is plenty of bumps on the way along with fun and laughter with friends and family.
So looking forward to putting myself back together over the next few months. Here's to a great 2018 to all and that their will be no hail stones on the 9th June ps anyone that knows me knows I hate putting my toes into the icy Irish Sea ... so the thought of been in my birthday suit !xxxx
