On Sunday June 3rd I'm attempting my first marathon. I'm hoping to raise some funds for an organisation very close to my family's heart.

Lakers is a Sport and Recreation club for children and adults with an intellectual disability.  The overall aim of Lakers is to enable children and adults with an intellectual disability to develop their innate skills and self esteem in an environment which is inclusive and supportive.

My son Adam has been a member of Lakers for over 10 years and in that time has participated in athletics, basketball, drama, rhythmic gymnastics, horse riding and even tag rugby. Adam looks forward to his weekly activities just like any other 14 year old. For us as a family, Lakers has been a great support as we have tried to figure out how to navigate our way through the many challenges that continue to come Adam's way.  

I decided it was about time that this middle aged Dad took on a challenge of his own to raise some much needed funds for Lakers and I would really appreciate any support you can give.
