I don't think that anybody expects cancer to come knocking at their door and I certainly know that the majority of people are not prepared or well equipped to deal with it when it does. Yes unfortunately I am speaking from experience . It changes lives , the person who has cancer , their families and friends , the affects spreads just as rapidly as the disease itself. Normality changes. During this diffucult time I reached out to the support centre for counselling to help to understand the situation that we were thrown into but especially to try and understand how to deal with it and myself.
The support centre works hand in hand with Oncology and provides numerous services such as counselling , reflexology , cancer education , recovery programmes and a very relaxing place to basically chill out , chat and drink tea / coffee.
I have personally availed of several of these services and will be forever grateful to them.
My very good friends and I are running a benefit concert in aid of the Mid Western Cancer Foudation ( Cancer Support Centre UHL) on Sat 6th Oct in the Millennium Centre , Caherconlish. All the proceeds from this event will go directly to the Support centre in UHL.
Tickets for the event are €5 , please come along if you can make it or please buy a ticket even if you can't make it or just please donate what you can .
Huge Thanks , Paul
