As part of a team of Orthopaedic surgeons , anaesthetists , theatre staff and ward nurses, I am volunteering to travel to Vietnam in March 2019 to help provide hip/knee replacements. We aim to do 100 joint replacements over a ten day period. Patients would otherwise not have access to this life changing Operation.
All supplies and implants will be shipped from Ireland to Vietnam.
My role when over in Vietnam will include, nursing the patients post operatively, directly after surgery in the PACU unit (post anaesthesia care unit) who are waking up from anesthesia. Here I will monitor the patient's level of consciousness and vital signs and pain control.
‘Operation Walk Ireland is at ground level working to educate Vietnamese surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and physiotherapists in Vietnam.
No donation too small, every bit goes a long way in this situation-and is so greatly appreciated🙏
