Inspired are due to relocate to a new premises in the former Brandon Court. This new facility will continue to offer programmes to young adults from all over Kerry and beyond. Life skills, transition programmes, culinary & art skills, IT and sport & fitness classes are just some of the essential and educational programmes that are critical to create employment opportunities and provide social interaction to many young adults, with disabilities, in the community.
“It makes me feel more independent and Inspired got me a job” says David, a participant of Inspired. “It is a happy place. Inspired has changed everything for me” adds Stephen.
Since its inception in 2014, Inspired has given a sense of purpose and enabled over 50 participants to have more autonomy and a meaningful role in their local community through the programmes offered. Inspired has grown out of their Friary Lane location and have identified a new facility in the former Brandon Court. This facility is scheduled to re-open in September 2020. The facility will need to allow social distancing and incorporate safety regulations outlined by the HSE if all participants are to continue with Inspired.
“With hairdressers and barbers closed due to Covid 19 lockdown we decided to get people involved in a fundraiser that pokes fun at our hair nightmares!” said Liz Maher, Inspired Manager
This fundraiser invites people to post their scary/funny hair images – either from during lockdown or before. So whether you have three inches of re-growth, a botched or professional barber style trim, an unfortunate home-dying experiment or had an acid perm in the 80’s – Inspired are encouraging you to post it – share it – donate 5 and nominate 2 more to participate.
Your donations will help with kitting out the new facility.
Supporters include Kieran Donaghy, Ultan Dillane, Tadgh & Derry Fleming, Billy Keane and Comedian Bernard Casey to start with more celebs and followers around the globe getting involved.
Please donate to this worthy cause by going to the Facebook page and posting your dramatic hair dos and follow the link to donate. Please share with others who could use a giggle!
