The Rotunda Foundation has taken the decision to close our current fundraising competition early. Winners will be announced next week. 

Christmas 2021

The Rotunda Hospital NICU cares for approximately 1200 sick and premature babies each year. These infants' needs can be very complex and we rely on vital equipment to provide the best care possible.

This year we were raising money for a few items from the Rotunda Wishlist that the NICU staff have prioritised. This vital equipment will offer the best chance to the Rotunda’s sickest and tiniest babies in their first hours, days and weeks in the Neonatal Unit.

• LifeStart - allows bedside resuscitation and stabilisation of babies immediately after birth with the umbilical cord intact to allow Optimal Cord Clamping.
• ECG Machine - essential equipment to monitor baby’s heart rate.
• Fabian Machines (x2) - vital equipment to support baby’s breathing in a compact and noninvasive way.
• Ventilator - life saving equipment to help babies who can’t breathe on their own.

In the past 2+ years, Cliona has been instrumental in raising essential funds to support the Rotunda’s NICU. Cliona began fundraising in 2019 after her friend's baby sadly passed away in the NICU after surviving for 37 days. In total, Cliona has helped raise over €200,000 for vital equipment needed in the Rotunda NICU which in turn has helped save and improve the lives of many babies born in critical condition.
