As most of you know, I suffered a serious spinal injury six years ago. I am fortunate, as I have some capacity to walk. Others with more severe injuries are less fortunate with life-changing consequences.

Spinal Injuries Ireland provides a wide range of assistance to spinal injury patients varying from counselling to providing funds for house adaptations. They depend on donations to provide services to those with injuries.

In eight weeks, myself and thirty-five other people who have been affected by spinal injuries will be sailing on a tall ship to France to prove to ourselves that our injuries in no way inhibit what we are capable of doing in life. Each of us hopes to fundraise 4000 euros which will go directly to Spinal Injuries Ireland.

I can personally vouch that every euro donated will help a person who has suffered a spinal injury with all the challenges they face daily.
