In Feb 2021 my Mam sadly died in the Mater Hospital. Visiting patients was not allowed due to the Covid pandemic at that time. On February 18th I got the call to say she was sadly in her final days. I hadn't been allowed see her for the previous 8 weeks. On Christmas Day an exception had been made to allow a visit. We were exceptionally lucky that Mam was moved to one of two End of Life Suites in the Mater hospital for her final 2 days. This meant Mam was now in a beautiful peaceful room, and family could be in the adjoining room and look through the glass to see her. This End of Life Suite is an initiative of the Irish Hospice Foundation as part of  Hospice Friendly Hospitals. Without this I would not have been able to be with her when she died. This suite changed my experience of my mams death completely and I will forever be grateful to the Irish Hospice Foundation and the Mater Foundation for providing this. For this reason  I'm taking part in the Camino Challenge 2022 to fundraise for the  Irish Hospice Foundation. All funds raised here will go directly to this great cause.
