I've chosen to fundraise for The Alzheimer Society of Ireland as my dad was finally diagnosed with Vascular Dementia in June 2019 having shown signs of the disease for a number of years. Our family, like so many others, witnessed the developing realities of this terrible disease and also the effect it has on the people who care for dementia sufferers. 

The Alzheimers Society was a touchstone of support for our family. Amongst it's many services, it runs courses educating people affected by loved ones suffering with dementia on how to cope with the evolving nature of the disease and the day to day realities. Supporting families and providing information is key to helping people better understand the disease and find what supports and services are out there in order to provide the dementia sufferer with the best possible care with this vulnerable disease.
