I'm running The Cork City Marathon 2023. All funds raised are going directly to CUMH to help fund a new Neonatal Family Sanctum. This will provide a space away from the clinical environment for families with seriously ill mothers or babies. It will also include a parents room to take some time out and have privacy during a very stressful time.
This is a cause very close to our families hearts as we had our Twin Boys Billy and Jack born 12 weeks premature. Jack spent 3 months in the NICU, and Billy spent 6 months. Sadly, Billy never got to come home as he passed away in the NICU. We cannot thank the Staff enough for the loving care they gave our boys it was second to none, we are forever grateful and will never be able to thank them enough. This is only something small to contribute to the Neo Natal Sanctum. In our experience this would be very welcoming to families at the stressful time in the NICU.
