From the 10th to the 13th of August 2023 I will be taking part in my fifth Tour de Munster. The Tour de Munster is a four day, 600km cycle around the six counties of Munster in aid of the Munster branches of Down Syndrome Ireland.
This is a charity which is very close to my heart. My brother David has Down Syndrome and will be turning 21 in December.
The Field of Dreams is an initiative developed by the Down Syndrome Cork branch. It is a 3 acre horticultural site in Curraheen, Cork and it was built to meet the on-going learning needs of adults with Down Syndrome across Cork city and County. As David now enters the big bad world, the Field of Dreams will provide an opportunity for David to continue on-going learning and growth and move him towards a life of greater independence and in time, towards paid work. The funds raised from the Tour de Munster allows initiatives like the Field of Dreams to happen.
