Hi everyone,
This June i'll be running the VHI Women's Mini Marathon for Helium Arts. As you might know, I've been working with Helium since 2009. The organisation runs amazing arts programmes for children and teenagers in hospitals and other healthcare settings. We currently have an artist in residence project called Cloudlands taking place with teenagers in Temple Street and Cork University Hospital; a film project called Two Suitcases with teenagers involved with CanTeen and we're also developing a new theatre piece for children under 3 with disabilities.
Helium is a really great cause as the projects are completely focused on the children taking part and their interests. The projects give them a chance to work with professional artists to create exciting new work that has nothing to do with illness. Please check out out facebook page www.facebook.com/HeliumArts, our website www.helium.ie and the Cloudlands Gallery which shows some of the work developed over the last two years of the Cloudlands Project http://cloudlandsgallery.helium.ie/cloudlandsgallery/
Helium is doing amazing work and even small amounts make a huge difference - I'd really appreciate any support you can give me and i'll run as fast as I can!
Helium Arts is an award-winning Irish charity giving children and young people with lifelong health conditions the chance to shine. 24% of children in Ireland are living with a lifelong health condition. 13% of these children report to be hampered by that condition. A lifelong health condition is one which can be treated and managed but usually not cured. Children with lifelong health conditions can experience stress and they report increased anxiety and loneliness b
