Thank you for taking the time to visit our memorial page for Saoirse O' Sullivan
On the 19th December 2022, Noel, Mairead and Erin unexpectedly lost their beautiful daughter and sister, Saoirse O’ Sullivan who was 10 years of age. All our coaches and members were greatly saddened and were also honored to be part of Saoirse’s short journey in life. A promising athelete, Saoirse would arrive at each session and her smile would light up the dojo where she trained with her many friends in the club. Saoirse was a proud judoka who liked to refine her technique and there was much delight as Saoirse progressed through her gradings with courtesy and modesty. It goes without saying that Saoirse is greatly missed by all her coaches and friends at Cork City Judo Club, but just like the stars you shine on us from a distance.
We have set up this page to keep Saoirse’s memory alive while raising some much needed funds for 'The Laura Lynn Foundation'. Being Ireland’s only children’s’ hospice service, it seems fitting that ‘The Laura Lynn Foundation’ has become Cork City Judo Club’s nominated charity this year. 'The Laura Lynn Foundation' brings specialist hospice care into the homes of children with life limiting conditions throughout Ireland. The charity offers medical and palliative care services to children and their families at all stages of incurable illness with a vision of, ‘making every-day better’.
On the 18th January 2024, Cork City Judo Club will run our 1st annual memorial Shield in memory of Saoirse. This is a closed, in-club judo tournament and kata demonstration followed by an evening of guaranteed fun with awards, raffles and spot prizes for our members and their families. Cork City Judo Club will donate 100% of mat fees and donations made towards Saoirse’s Memorial Shield directly to ‘The Laura Lynn Foundation’. By making a donation you can help raise much needed funds to expand and develop their services to ensure that children and their families can have access to the right care.
We want to take the opportunity to keep Saoirse’s memory alive while helping to raise some much needed funds for a great cause and we are so grateful of your support.
