We are hosting a trainee fundraiser table quiz on the 20th of February 2024 in the Vanilla Café, Blackhall Place. 

We have chosen to fundraise for Irish Red Cross appeals in Ukraine and Gaza. All funds raised here will go directly to these causes.

UKRAINE

After nearly two years of conflict, millions of people are still without electricity, warmth and water. Countless homes, schools and hospitals have been destroyed. Ukrainians are facing their second winter living in damaged, freezing homes. Red Cross teams are still working to provide essential aid like food, shelter, healthcare and building repairs. More than 7 million people have fled Ukraine completely, leaving behind everything they have ever known, including loved ones. Here in Ireland, Irish Red Cross teams are doing all they can to support and welcome refugees as they try to rebuild their lives.

GAZA

As part of a global humanitarian network, the Irish Red Cross maintains a neutral position with regard to all conflicts, including the current Israel-Hamas conflict.  However, given the overwhelming impact this crisis has had on the civilian population of Gaza, as well as the territory’s infrastructure and health system, the Irish Red Cross has chosen to direct our support to the Palestinian Red Crescent’s humanitarian efforts. The Irish Red Cross recognises that the humanitarian need in Gaza is simply overwhelming. The population is facing un-precedented health and safety challenges which continue to deteriorate. The Irish Red Cross calls on all parties to exercise restraint, to abide by their obligations under International Humanitarian Law, and to protect civilians wherever possible.
