Last year our family lost its rock, our go to man, a husband, a brother, an uncle, a friend, an absolute gentleman whose door was always open to everyone, there was nothing you couldn’t talk to him about and no favour too big to ask of him. Cancer took him away from us like it has to so many other families. Jack was someone who always gave to his family, his community, his GAA club and now it’s time for us to give back something in his memory. That is why we as his family and friends are running a fundraiser in St Patrick’s GAA pitch on Sunday May 5th.
That dreaded word that no one wants to hear, was unfortunately the one our family has heard. Cancer, it hits so hard and unfortunately so often to so many people. It affects not only the person who receives the diagnosis but everyone around them. It has a lasting effect that I don’t think any of us can ever truly get over. But there are organisations out there who can help lighten the load, help those diagnosed cope, help navigate a way through the grief of losing someone you love. And that is why it is so important to raise awareness and funds to keep these organisations going. Organisations like Hope Cancer Support Centre.
So come have a coffee with us, a walk, watch some GAA, play some skittles and later join us in Jacks Tavern for music and maybe even a drink or two. Help us raise funds for Hope Cancer Support Centre who can help make the darkness of cancer that little bit brighter.
What a very special & important cause. Best of luck with your fundraiser.
Thinking of you all on 5th, I hope it’s a wonderful day celebrating Jack ❤️
The Hope Cancer Support Centre was founded in 1999 by a group of people who were affected by cancer. From their journey, they recognised that there was a need for a service to give emotional support and practical information to people whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis.
