From the 28th of July to the 5th of August 2023, The 8th World Dwarf Games will be held in Cologne, Germany. This is the largest sporting event in history exclusively for athletes with dwarfism. The prestigious and unique event incorporates many different sports and gives opportunity for both recreational and elite athletes from around the world to participate in a week of competition and camaraderie.
The World Dwarf Games are an international competition that allows people with dwarfism to compete at an international level. Team Ireland first attended these games in 2009 when the competition was held in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In 2013, The games were held in Michigan in the United States and 2017 in Guelph, Canada.
This year, Team Ireland will be sending 14 athletes to participate in this unique sporting event, competing in various sports as swimming, powerlifting, boccia, badminton, track & field, soccer and much more.
The DSAI are planning to help raise funds for these athletes to go towards their team kit, transportation, accommodation, and registration costs of participating at the games. Each athlete must fund themselves to participate in the games at their cost. We decided to setup this fundraiser to help lower athlete’s costs to attend the games and we’d appreciate your help.
