Last year, the Walk4Ollie and other associated projects helped raise over €45000 for Muscular Dystrophy Ireland . This year, we're going to do it all again, and this time we're walking from Dungarvan to Enfield in July. All funds raised here will go directly to this great cause.
So who is Ollie? Our son, Ollie, has a muscular dystrophy called Bethlem myopathy, which is a rare condition affecting the skeletal muscles and connective tissue. Ollie is an amazing kid with a contagious personality that lights up every room, an avid gamer, crazy about soccer, he's a drummer and most of all a kind and lovable child.
What is Walk4Ollie? The Walk4Ollie is to raise awareness and funds for Muscular Dystrophy Ireland. Last year, the Walk4Ollie went from Castlebar to Enfield, and in the process we raised over €35,000. This year we want the walk to be more accessible to all abilities, and will take the route of the Waterford Greenway and then along the River Barrow.
When is it happening? From July 16th to July 20th 2024, we will be walking from Dungarvan, Co. Waterford to our home town of Enfield, Co. Meath, joined by some friends & family along the 200+km route:
Tuesday 16th - Dungarvan to Waterford City (Fitzwilton Hotel)
Wednesday 17th - Waterford City to Graiguenamanagh
Thursday 18th - Graiguenamanagh to Carlow Town
Friday 19th - Carlow Town to Monasterevin
Saturday 20th - Monasterevin to Enfield
I hope you can help us by donating whatever you can or by joining us for some of the route.
