Early Detection of Ovarian Cancer in Memory of Attracta O'Regan

Attracta passed away on July 2, 2023 as a consequence of ovarian cancer. There is currently no accurate test for the early detection of ovarian cancer, and this is why we have partnered with Breakthrough Cancer Research. In her memory, we are fundraising for a 3 year 149,000 research scholarship for the early detection of ovarian cancer.

A major challenge in the clinical management of ovarian cancer is the late stage of diagnosis. Approximately 7 in 10 women are diagnosed at a late stage, when clinical management is more challenging and survival is lower. More than 400 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year in Ireland, and there are approximately 295 deaths*. These are not just numbers; they are someone's wife, mother, daughter, or friend.

Myself, our son Ian, and friends are cycling from Paris to Nice in September 2024 in memory of Attracta, as she completed this cycle in 2019, but also to raise 149,000 for this essential need in women's health.

All donations will go fund this research scholarship.
