- Hi all! Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page on iDonate.ieI've taken on the challenge to climb Slievenamon 10 times in a day to raise funds for PAWS Animal Rescue in Mullinahone in Tipperary. PAWS was founded in 1997 and helps thousands of dogs every year to find a loving home for life.
To raise funds for this amazing charity, I have given myself this challenge and hope you will all join me!
This is a dog friendly event, but all dogs must be kept on lead at all times.
I hope to have many supporters on the day, such as @handmadebymaighread and more!
Times are detailed in the update below, beginning from The Memory Seat. The first hike will be at sunrise and the last at sunset.
Water will be available at the Memory Seat through the daybut we encourage people to carry their own bottles to reduce plastic waste. There will also be water bowls available for your 4 legged friends!
If anyone is unable to hike on the day but would like to help out I would love assistance at the Memory Seat providing water to supporters as I hike! Donations of baked goodies will also be welcome on the day and greatly appreciated.
I would ask that you park in Kilcash village and make your way to the trail from there as parking is limited and respect must be given to locals. The distance from Kilcash to the Memory Seat is approx 1.4km with an uphill pull. I would recommend you allow 20/30 minutes to travel up from the car parking.
I would love to see you and your four legged friends on the day! Donations will be taken on the day or online at idonate.ie. Please spread the word far and wide! Many Thanks for your support.
DISCLAIMER
As stated above, this is a dog friendly event and we encourage dogs to attend, but all dogs must be kept on leash at all times. As this is a June fundraiser, temperatures may be hot on the day. The mountain is a very exposed area. Please plan accordingly. Hydration stations will be available along the trail, but shelter will be minimal. Please exercise common sense when choosing if your dog will be okay to do the hike on the day.
Slievenamon is rated as a challenging hike, approximately 6km out-and-back. Please use common sense to determine your own fitness level, as the uphill climb is very taxing. There is no time limit, so we do invite you to come, take your time and enjoy the climb! However this activity is undertaken at your own risk and neither the organisers, PAWS, or the landonwers are responsible for any injury that may occur.
