Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to visit this fundraising page on iDonate.ie
Cian Crosbie is taking part in PATAGONMAN Xtreme Triathlon in Chile on 4th December 2022, together with his Race Support, Ultan Flynn. Both Cian and Ultan will each be carrying two 'Beads of Courage' during the race. The Beads of Courage, which are provided by Childhood Cancer Ireland, are intended as additional motivation for us on race day (like so many other previous fundraisers doing their own challenges), but more importantly to a child undergoing treatment for cancer, who will receive one of the Beads from us following the race. Beads of Courage enable children to tell their story using colourful beads as meaningful symbols of courage that commemorate milestones along their unique treatment path.
The race is not expected to be easy. PATAGONMAN course runs point-to-point, or fjord to lake. It starts before sunrise in the Aysen Fjord, where the athletes must jump from a ferryboat into the icy cold water, to swim 3.8 kilometers toward Puerto Chacabuco where they can exit the water and find their bikes in the first transition area (T1). From there, they ride 180 kilometers into the windy, winding and hilly road of the famous Carretera Austral to Cerro Castillo, one of the most scenic postcards of Patagonia where they can leave their bikes in the second transition area (T2). From there, they run 42.2 kilometers of dirt trail and rubble road following the Ibanez River through forest, next to beautiful lakes and waterfalls all the way to the General Carrera Lake, another landmark of the region.
We have chosen to fundraise for Childhood Cancer Ireland. All funds raised here will go directly to this great cause. We hope you can help us by donating whatever you can. Simply click the Donate button above. All donations are processed securely.
