This is my second time to do the Galway Dip in the Nip in aid of Hand in Hand Children's Cancer Charity. I decided to do the Dip in 2013 (even though I was terrified & thought what if someone recognises me!!!), because a I was inspired by a young girl who had cancer and I thought would this be something she would do when she was older and if she survived cancer. It was something very small to do in the bigger scheme of things when you saw this amazing girl and all the other children who go through cancer. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever done, you realise very quickly firstly the water is freezing but most importantly that we are all the same and it dosen't matter what shape or size we are or what scars we have on our bodies. People had travelled long distances to take part, some going through chemo and others in memory of loved ones or to support friends or family members going through chemo. From Zumba with Alex on the beach to the 'Happy Song' it was such a lovely morning and it was the most welcomed cup of tea ever. There was the remembrance tree where you got to write a memory to a loved one. It was the nicest group of people with the likes of Dave, Alex & Maire who are veteran dippers and made everyone feel welcome and at ease & brilliant fun. It was amazing what people came up with for their undressed look from feather boas, wigs etc. I went away that day with a smile on my face and the secret delight of having taken part, only a handful of people knew I had taken part. So please if you can, will you give me a donation how ever small or even better come and take part on the 18th. I love this charity to bits as you all know, I started as a volunteer with them and now I am lucky to be employed by them. Thanks to all my amazing friends and family who I know will support me and for all your amazing support always, hugs Dee
