I'm taking part in the FourPeaks challenge 2019 on Friday 14th of June 2019 .
I've chosen to fundraise for the Mercy University Hospital Foundation.

This is how your support will help this:

Funds raised through the 2019 Heroes campaign will go towards our unique POONS service. (Paediatric Onchology Outreach Nursing Service)

This crucial service allows children who are suffering from cancer to be treated in their own homes. The service covers a large geographical area from Youghal to Bantry and Mitchelstown to Kinsale, as well as surrounding counties so that all children have access to this service regardless of their location.

“Being able to deliver a home-based option to these children enhances their quality of life and allows for some normalisation of family life during cancer treatment.  It also means there is a reduction in hospital admissions and promotes early discharge from the Hospital. We are also able to provide ongoing training and development for the team of Clinical Nurse Specialists so that they can provide expert care to the children through informed research and up to date knowledge.” Olga Buckley, Paediatric Oncology / Haematology CNS.
